$60,000 raised, 700 iLumis, 35 countries, and 400 contributors. It’s hard to explain how amazing it feels to share your passion and vision and have people from all over the world embrace it.  We are so grateful to all of you for contributing your hard earned money to a belief that light should do more than just help you see.  A belief in iLumi.

It started off with our vision, but you all are a part of this now.  The iLumi Nation has been born and together we are going to light up the world!  Together, we will redefine what lighting is and what it can be.  We will create amazing lighting experiences, and we are going to do it responsibly.  Already, your contributions and use of iLumi will offset about 600,000 kilowatt hours of energy, the equivalent of saving 1000 barrels of oil from being consumed.

Keep an eye out for an e-mail with a link to an iLumi survey in the next week where we’ll need your help to confirm your order and answer some questions to refine what iLumi will be.  To all of you, thank you again. First of all, thank you to the 146 iLumi supporters who have already contributed their hard earned cash to support the iLumi indiegogo campaign. We’re inspired by your support and can’t wait to get iLumis in your hands. You should know that even if we don’t reach the $100,000 goal, your support has already allowed us to move forward with manufacturing to bring iLumi to the world. We are committed to iLumi and committed to giving our supporters an easy, beautiful, and amazing lighting experience. Reaching the goal will mean a lower indiegogo fee, so it is still important, but not reaching it won’t stop us.

Secondly, the iLumi team recently presented at two amazing events, the Startup Texas two minute pitch at Cowboy Stadium and the Rice Alliance IT and Web Showcase. It was a jam packed three days, and at the end we came out with a trophy, lots of amazing contacts, and some amazing experiences. Check out the iLumi facebook page for some photos of these events including us presenting on the biggest HD screen in the world at Cowboy Stadium.

Lastly, if you haven’t seen it yet, we’ve added some new perks and bonuses to the iLumi indiegogo campaign including a hacker kit, a smaller donation amount, and an iLumi card to give as a ‘pre-gift’ over the Holidays. Emerging from the proverbial garage, it’s an unbelievable feeling to be able to share iLumi with the world.  It’s a bit nerve racking, but also invigorating – and sharing is the key word.  Beginning with this Blog we invite you to share in this experience with us, where we will post updates about our Indiegogo campaign, development, and just general fun-formational stuff.

We’ve come a long way over the past two years to get to this point.  It’s a testament to the belief that others have placed in our team and idea that have allowed us to be able to today share iLumi with the world.  You know who you are, and we thank you for all you’ve done.  But there’s a whole lot more to do, and we are just getting started.  So continue to believe in us, believe in our vision, believe in our team, and believe that together we can accomplish fantastic things.
